Having A Good Credit Score Is Essential5398094
All the experts will tell you that it is very important to have a good credit score.  But most people do not know how to get a good credit score or how to keep it.  Obtaining a good credit score and keeping a good credit score is not a secret, but it is not easy either.  Even people that pay all of their bills on time may not have a good credit score, because they have not taken the right precautions to increase or maintain their credit score.

Take Steps To Improve Your Credit
There are several steps that any one can take to improve their credit score.  The most obvious way to improve your credit score are to pay all of your bills on time.   Paying your bills on time is the first and most obvious step towards obtaining a better credit score, it is not the only thing you have to do. Even people that have paid all of their bills on time may have a low credit score.

Too much available credit is bad.  Having too many open accounts on your credit report can bring your credit score down.  If your credit score is lower than you think it should be, and you are paying all your bills on time, you should consider closing some of you credit lines.  This can be done by simply paying off the account and calling the company to cancel the account.

Your credit score may be low due to no fault of your own.  The credit bureaus make billions of mistakes per year.  They put false and incorrect information on almost every credit report and it is your responsibility to find and correct the mistakes.  You should pull your credit report at least every year to check for mistakes.  When you find mistakes, you should write a letter (or email) the all three credit bureaus and inform them of the mistake.  They are required to investigate and correct the mistake within 30 days.

What Happens To Credit After FIling Bankruptcy?
You can rebuild your credit after filing bankruptcy.  Bankruptcy will stay on your credit report for 10 years after filing.  However, you can reestablish your credit, even have higher score than you do prior to filing, in less than two years after bankruptcy.

You can do this by following several steps.  First, about thirty days after you receive your bankruptcy discharge, pull your credit report.  Make sure all of the creditors have reporting you as having filed for bankruptcy.

If any creditors have not reported, then you should contact the creditor and credit bureaus letting them know of the mistake.  Second, you should open three to five new trade lines after filing bankruptcy.  A trade line is any account that reports good information to the credit bureaus.  A trade line could be a secured credit card, a store card, a gas card, a cell phone account, a car payment, anything that reports to the credit bureaus.  Once you have established your new trade lines, you should make your payments on time, never pay them down to a zero balance, and never charge them up to over half the available credit line.

There is a lot more information that an attorney can give you about your credit report and sound financial planning.  In addition to discussing bankruptcy options with you, our attorneys meet with you to help you plan a sound financial strategy with regards to large purchases such as homes, cars, business and more.

To rebuild your credit, you should make sure that you have a job. For a start ,even a part time job will be sufficient .The purpose it to create a steady work record as soon as possible. You should obtain copies of your credit report from all three credit bureaus. Once you have your credit reports insure the information is correct, showing your work history.

Essentially, to obtain and keep good credit you must

  • Use credit
  • Not use too much credit,
  • Not have high balances in relationship to the available amount,
  • Pay all amounts on time,
  • Review your credit report for errors on a regular basis,
  • Immediately fix all mistakes on your credit report by contacting the credit bureaus.
